Coastal home - take a tour around a Sussex beach house

Living room - coastal home

The seating area in the open-plan living space is demarcated with a large, colourful rug.

Kitchen-diner - coastal home

Maple flooring creates a sleek, American feel in the kitchen-dining room. The owners were wanted to create a contemporary, airy look throughout the house.

Bedroom - coastal home

The main bedroom is surrounded on two sides by a terrace overlooking the sea. Simple furniture and neutral fabrics allows the stunning view to become the focus of the room.

Childs bedroom - coastal home

In keeping with the house's location, the child's bedroom has a nautical feel.

Bathroom - coastal home

Contemporary fittings in the bathroom keep things fresh and clean looking, while blue mosaic tiles are perfectly in keeping with the seaside feel.

Balcony - coastal home

Most of the bedrooms have their own balconies overlooking the sea. Iroko timber cladding protects the house from the harsh seaside elements, and is beginning to weather to a beautiful silver-white.

Pool - coastal home

It's easy to see how Californian beachside architecture has influenced the design of this house, with huge folding doors opening along the ground floor, allowing access to the terrace.
